A warm Caribbean welcome awaits everybody at Notting Hill Carnival. The mas bands’ costumes are a riot of extravagance and colour. The music reverberates in side streets and alleyways. And the scent of spices and Caribbean cooking is absolutely everywhere. The weekend is a fantastic celebration of the very best of West Indian culture and arts. The family is strong in Caribbean culture and Carnival is as much a family experience as it is a party for adults.

Sunday is children’s day. Bring the family.

For some years now, the Sunday before August bank holiday Monday at Carnival has been designated children’s day. A children’s parade is accompanied by the rhythms of the steel bands. The crowds are less dense and the atmosphere is slightly less frenetic, making Sunday the perfect day to introduce young children to Caribbean fun. Of course, the food tastes as good on a Sunday as on any other day and kids will love exploring all the food stands. Carnival welcomes families… so what are you waiting for? You might want to remember to bring earplugs for the very young.
