The organiser of Notting Hill Carnival, the London Notting Hill Carnival Enterprises Trust (LNHCET) has, for the first time in Carnival’s 50-year history, appointed an event management company to take over the management and logistics of delivering a better, safer Carnival in 2017.
LNHCET’s board of trustees agreed unanimously to appoint Street Event Company to manage what is Europe’s greatest annual street festival. Appointed in mid-May 2017, Street Event Company is now liaising closely with LNHCET, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC), Westminster City Council, the GLA, Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), and other delivery partners, to ensure Carnival 2017 provides the spectacle, fun and celebration of the arts it is famous for, whilst addressing security and safety concerns raised since the 2016 event.
The Street Event Company team is familiar with the management challenges of Carnival, having been closely involved in various aspects of the event in previous years. Whilst LNHCET remains the organiser of Carnival and continues to oversee the artistic content of the event, Street Event Company is to implement new safety measures in 2017 and is in consultation with RBKC, MPS and other delivery partners as to what improvements may be introduced in time for Carnival this year.
