Parking Restrictions

Parking Restrictions Marcin Rogozinski Alamy

To create a safe environment during Carnival, a number of road closures and restrictions are put in place. Even if your usual parking place is not in a restricted street, you may wish to move your car because experience has shown that vehicles may be damaged inadvertently due to the sheer number of visitors attending the event.

Unfortunately, due to the lack of alternative parking near the route, Westminster City Council is not able to provide alternative on-street parking for affected residents.

From 6am each day the police will be checking all vehicles entering the restricted area to ensure that only residents gain access. From 9am each day all traffic, other than Carnival floats and emergency vehicles, will be excluded from the area.

It would greatly assist the police if residents moved their vehicles the night before from the Carnival area. Under the Traffic Management Order it may be necessary to prevent pedestrians and vehicles from entering Ladbroke Grove from Harrow Road from 7pm each day.

A small number of streets in Westminster will have parking restrictions in place from Saturday 26 August. In order to protect Westminster residents’ parking in the areas north of the main Carnival site and route, Westminster City Council will extend parking controls for residents.
